2007 Learning Communities Project

This year funding has been acquired to implement a Learning Communities Project. The project will focus on Learning to Learn and will be an action research task, assessing the use and significance of the Learning to Learn program. The planning group will meet in term one and information will follow about the project. Refer to the posts for up to date information.
Anticipated Project Outcomes:

Our school community

  • Improved pedagogy.
  • Development of a Learning community.

Our staff

  • Staff professional Learning around the concept of Learning to Learn.
  • Gain understanding of Action research methods

Our students

  • Improved Literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Greater engagement in the school environment.

Professional learning activities for this project include:
€ teachers engaging in professional dialogue about quality learning and teaching (whole school or focus groups) in particular Learning to Learn

€ workplace mentoring and coaching and development of a team of “Specialists” in Learning to Learn and project measurement.

€ participation in workshops and inservices in two areas, Learning to Learn and Action research techniques

€ engaging external partners such as higher education institutions to inservice staff on Action Reasearch
